Resident Evil 2 “1-Shot Demo” On Release Month
|
Ever since Resident Evil 2 was announced at E3 2018 last year, fans have been dying to get a taste of the remake, in all its apocalyptic glory.
Thankfully, players will now have that chance. The so-called “1-Shot” demo confirmed by Kellen, a Capcom Employee via the company’s forum gives players the option to revisit the ravaged Raccoon City, a full two weeks before the game hits shelves. (Please hit the link for a direct source).
According to the official statement, the demo will release on January 11th across multiple platforms including Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and the PC’s gaming platform Steam. Furthermore, this remake to the 1996 survival horror classic which carries a cult legion of adoring fans worldwide, is set to come out at the tail end of this month, on January 25th.
Upon completion of the pre-release, Capcom has promised a “brand new trailer exclusive to the demo.”
The format to the demo is one close to that aired at various conferences last year whereby players will take control of franchise favorite Leon S. Kennedy, a rookie police officer, caught up in the horrid hellhole that is Raccoon City.
What’s more, this is a timed exercise. Thirty minutes to be precise. Once the allocated digits are up, so is your playtime. Regardless of how the demo finishes, players will get a never-seen-before glimpse at what’s in store. Still, it’s a race against time to make it to the finish. Just imagine, if flesh-eating zombies were floating about the precinct. Now that would make life a darn sight tougher. Oh wait, they are, in abundance.
This time-limited offering is a little odd considering the actual release is a matter of days away. Mainly, we hope that it’s free to play and devoid of any microtransactions.
What are your thoughts on this reimagining of Raccoon City? Is Resident Evil 2 a nostalgic nod to the past, or a cutting-edge tribute to the cult classic? Let us know your thoughts below.
