Doom Eternal Quake-Cons 25 Minute Teaser

The developers Id Software, a member of the Zenimax Media Inc., has been gaining plenty of traction in the industry. Partly, due to a string of successful IP’s and a host of big-selling blockbusters. This titan of titles is of course propped up by the battle-bruised Bethesda. Which, although still a massive entity in the gaming world, has perhaps taken a bit of an ego-bashing. What with the collateral Fallout from “76”. Regardless, the Publishers of Doom Eternal, are still a powerhouse in the industry, and considering their track record, it’s only fair to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Id Software prides themselves on immersive, first-person-shooters, and the catalog of carnage is mightily impressive. From the chaos of Quake to the ravaged world of Rage, each game has enjoyed lasting moments in the limelight. Non-more so perhaps, than Doom. That said, its longevity in the market speaks volumes. Doom is a pioneer of its genre. More often than not, the original FPS is thought to be one of the most influential games of all time.

Nowadays, we take FPS titles for granted. The truth is, we have Id software to thank for the omnipresent nature of this great genre, today. Without those initial, bold steps into unknown waters, the gaming landscape would display a wildly different terrain.

The Developers reinvented this iconic series with a reboot of the much loved FPS in 2016. Surprisingly, this was the first release in the Doom franchise since 2004. Furthermore, it went down a storm with nostalgia-junkies and even had its name thrown into the hat for GOTY at the annual Game Awards Ceremony.

Now, we look to the future, which appears to be very bright indeed. With that in mind, the next game in this everlasting series is Doom Eternal. To celebrate 25 years of demon slaying anarchy, the developers bring us the latest iteration, and at first glance the signs are promising. Recently, a long teaser has reached the public sphere, which features over twenty breathtaking minutes of game-play. So then, without any further or do, let’s dive headfirst into oblivion and dissect this trailer, bit by bit. Or perhaps more fittingly, limb by limb.

The demon-slayers back, and this time, he’s armed to the teeth, not that he wasn’t before, of course. Seriously though, he’s a human battle-tank. Built like a brick-muscleman and equipped with an unholy arsenal of weapons. The footage first made headway at QuakeCon, a yearly convention that promotes id Softwares ambitious endeavors for the future.

During this event, the co-makers join each other on stage to speak of a visual overhaul to its demons and monsters, citing all-new concept art and character creation for enemies. A handful of these brought back to life from the days of Doom II. All this, alongside a host of innovative tools and abilities. A host of which, I have never seen before in Doom. Of course, the super slayer shotgun marks its return to the series. And it looks like one hell of a lean, mean, killing machine!

The trailer itself features a world shaped by chaos and carnage. Equally, one could be mistaken for thinking the gates of hell had opened. Or an evil pandora’s box of pain and suffering unleashed upon the world. Therefore, what lies within, are all the vile horror tropes from your worst nightmares. That said, the game carries with it more gun-slinging action than Rambo on a field exercise.

Mostly, Doom Eternal demonstrates nerve-shredding gun-play. Although, the ruthless arena of death may be more of an apt title. The dark demonic underbelly plays host to a manner of marauding foes; it’s hell on earth in all its glory.
