PlayStation Store to Offer Refunds on Pre-Orders and Faulty Content

This week, PlayStation has updated their return policy to include pre-ordered games and content as well as “faulty” content, although they have yet to elaborate on what this considered faulty. This is a significant step forward for Sony and their policies when it comes to refunds, bringing it current to PC gaming powerhouse, Valve, and Microsoft.

PlayStation’s new cancellation policy states that any content, from games to skins to season passes can be refunded within 14 days of its release, provided that they haven’t begun the download. “If you started to download or stream the purchased content you are not eligible for a refund unless the content is faulty,” the policy states.

After processing the refund, the policy webpage states that whenever possible, the refund will be made in the same way that it was purchased. Otherwise, it will be placed on your PSN Wallet. This will most likely be the case for a gift card or download codes.

For those of us who make spur of the moment pre-orders that can sometimes cost over $100 with all the exclusive and bonus content, we can now refund the purchase in a reasonably straightforward process.

Sony has also announced that starting April 1 that they will no longer allow retailers to sell downloadable codes in stores for PlayStation.
